Apple's iPad Air 2

Available starting today, Apple‘s new iPad Air 2 is a shockingly thin 6.1 millimeters, making it the thinnest iPad ever. It weighs less than a pound.

The displays on previous generations of iPad used three separate components – iPad Air 2 combines those three layers into just one. This eliminates gaps between layers, along with the internal reflectance caused by those gaps. The result is richer colors, greater contrast, and images are sharper and more vivid. iPad Air 2 also features a custom-designed anti-reflective coating that reduces glare by 56 percent, making it the least reflective tablet in the world.
Apple has designed a new chip, the A8X, that delivers better CPU and graphics performance than its predecessor. It’s power efficient, too, with a 10-hour battery life.
The new iSight camera is the best iPad camera yet, with advanced optics, an improved sensor, and a powerful Apple-designed image signal processor. There are new features like panorama, time-lapse videos, slo-mo, and burst and timer modes. The front-facing FaceTime HD camera has been redesigned, too, with an improved sensor and larger pixels for even better low-light performance.

The anodized aluminum of the iPad Air 2 body comes in three metallic finishes (silver, space gray and gold). iPad Air 2 starts at $499.
