Ferrari Unveils the F12 TdF

Ferrari's F12 Berlinetta, as if it needed a performance upgrade, is getting one thanks to the Italian manufacturer’s latest creation: the F12 TdF.

The model sees it 6.3-liter V12 upgraded to about 770 horsepower with increased torque of 520 pound-feet. Perhaps best of all, 80% of that torque is available at rpm as low as 2,500.Joining the modified engine is the return of a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission — this time upshifting 30 percent faster, downshifting 40 percent faster and offering ratios 6 percent shorter than before.

A a wider base and larger wheels have been joined by the brakes of the LaFerrari while a new four-wheel drive Virtual Short Wheelbase means better stability and handling. Even the exterior has been overhauled with lighter and more aerodynamic construction — resulting in 87 percent more downforce than that of the Berlinetta, as well as a weight reduction of 240 pounds. As a result of this combination, the F12 TdF can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 2.9 seconds before ultimately hitting a top speed of 211 mph.
