While unannounced projects have become a recent music industry trend, for rapper Harvey Stripes today’s surprise release of his EP, “Yours to Discover” is a statement that defines his career. Since 2009, the Toronto-based rapper has continued to surprise fans with guest features, experimental production and lyrics that balance introspective topics with his take on the streets, money, women and life in general.
“Yours to Discover” features six songs that, as a whole, serve as a precursor to the March 30 release of Harvey’s next full-length project, “In God We Trust”.
Of the surprise EP, Harvey says, “I wanted to give something to the fans that have been patiently anticipating ‘In God We Trust’. The streets have always supported me from day one, so it’s only right I give back. This is like the appetizer to the main course.”
With production by Murda Beatz (Migos, 2 Chainz, Chris Brown, Young Thug), Soulja Boy (Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne), Pro Logic (P Reign, Machine Gun Kelly), Andrew Triple-A and Nav, the EP boasts a laid-back, trap-inspired sound that lends itself to Harvey’s street-proof lyrics. Guest appearances on “Yours to Discover” include Soulja Boy, long-time collaborator Hooks, Nav and Layla Hendryx, who is signed to Harvey’s DND Music imprint.
“After all the work we put in, Harvey Stripes is still a new artist as far as the world is concerned,” says Harvey. “The new wave of music will definitely remind the fans to revisit some of the past hits and open their minds to Harvey Stripes and my outlook moving forward and onto ‘In God We Trust.’”
Harvey Stripes’ first full-length project, “A Dollar and a Dream”, was released in 2011 and produced eight singles. The follow-up, “A Penny and a Nightmare”, saw a 2013 release and featured heavy-hitters such as Jadakiss, Juicy J, Tory Lanez and Jeremih.
